WEST PARIS – A man who moved in with his parents after being shot last spring in New Hampshire stabbed his father to death before killing himself with the same knife after an argument over living arrangements, investigators said Monday.

Deputies arrived Sunday night to find the bodies of Kevin Behan, 56, and his son, James Behan, 29, in the family home, said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene.

It appears that the father and son had argued over how long the younger Behan intended to continue living with his parents, McCausland said.

James Behan moved in with his parents while recovering from a gunshot wound to the chest last April in Conway, N.H. Christopher Frost, 28, of Conway was charged with assault and reckless conduct in the incident in his home.

After the stabbings, Kevin Behan’s wife called the Oxford County Sheriff’s Department; she was so distraught that she was hospitalized overnight.

Both bodies were taken to Augusta, where autopsies were scheduled for today. The final cause and manner of death will be determined upon completion of the autopsies and additional interviews with family members, McCausland said.
