CORINTH – The Board of Selectmen voted Thursday night to hire Mike Polyot as the town’s new code enforcement officer.

Polyot’s salary was set as $450 per month, plus 75 percent of revenue obtained from plumbing permits. The salary is equal to that of his predecessor, Dalton Mullis, who resigned in December.

Polyot will assume his new role March 1, and will be available to residents on Wednesdays from 2 to 6 p.m. at the town office.

In other meeting business, Town Manager Don Strout noted that the town ended the year on the plus side with a $25,000 increase from 2003 in unappropriated surplus funds.

“It’s always nice to end the year on the plus side,” Strout said. The town has approximately $185,000 in surplus, which Strout attributed to an increase in revenue sharing and excise taxes.

Strout and board members also commended the town’s plowing contractors, BL Grant & Sons and Robert Preble, for their excellent work at keeping the town’s roads clear this winter.

“It’s an unappreciated job,” Selectwoman Terri Casavant said.
