Red Riots top Foxcroft

BANGOR – John Tuell scored three goals and assisted on two others to lead Orono to an 8-1 Class B hockey victory over Foxcroft Academy at Sawyer Arena on Thursday night.

Tony Raymond scored two goals for 15-3-1 Orono and Jacob Roeder had a goal and four assists. Travis Bryant had a goal and two assists and Nathan Michaud added a goal and an assist. David Eugley made 14 saves on 15 shots.

Derek Smith scored on a Logan Forrest assist in the first period for 6-11 Foxcroft Academy. Dan Perkins stopped 39 of 47 shots.

Boys basketball

Leavitt 53, John Bapst 50

At the Bangor Auditorium, Brandon Powell hit a game-winning 3-pointer with seven-tenths of a second left to give Leavitt of Turner Center the victory.

Nate Cousineau led Leavitt with 16 points. Jon Pirruccello scored 11 points and Dan Berry added 10 points.

George Keefe scored 16 points for John Bapst and Kyle Ferrill had 10 points.

Woodland wins DAC crown

At Eastport, Michelle Ferry scored 15 points to lead Woodland to a 52-34 victory over Shead in the Downeast Athletic Conference championship game.

Courtney Cochran added 11 points for the Dragons.

Taunya Cook had 15 points and seven rebounds for Shead. Skylar Richardson scored 10 points and Fawn Cummings had four steals.
