Broncs outrun Devils Ram boys, girls sweep Panthers

LEWISTON – Josh McNutt scored six points in the second quarter to spark Hampden Academy as the Broncos outran the Lewiston Blue Devils for a 58-38 schoolboy basketball victory Friday night.

Hampden’s Jordan Cook led all scorers with 21 points and he also grabbed 14 rebounds. Blaine Meehan added 12 points, three assists, and four steals. McNutt finished with eight points.

David Labonte scored 11 points for Lewiston, and Jared Turcotte added 10.

At Bangor, Jordan Heath scored the first eight of the Rams’ 22 points in the first quarter to key a 22-2 run.

Heath finished with 11 points in the first quarter and 18 overall for Bangor. Alex Gallant chipped in with nine.

Andy Vayo led the Purple Panthers with 12 points.

At Waterville, Ilyse Angst converted all eight of her free throw attempts in the fourth quarter as the Rams held off the Panthers.

Angst finished with 16 points and was 12-for-12 from the line for Bangor. Erin Porter contributed nine points.

Shelley Gagne led all scorers with 17 points for Waterville.
