CASTINE – Shelly Gott scored a game-high 20 points as the Maine Maritime Academy women’s basketball team earned a 65-40 victory over Becker Friday in college action.
Alyssa Burns tallied 10 points, 15 rebounds and six steals for the Mariners, who improve to 14-2 in the North Atlantic Conference.
Michelle Stockwell scored 12 points to lead Becker and Jocelyn McNair added 10.

At Newman Gym in Bangor, John Ancrum tallied 15 points and 15 assists and Kyle Seyboth also netted 15 points as the Blazers of Chicopee, Mass. held off the Eagles in North Atlantic Conference action.
Anthony Bernard chipped in with 14 points and Lonnie Branyon 13 for Elms.
Buddy Leavitt and Tyler Muzzy led five Husson players in double figures with 16 points apiece. Muzzy also had 10 rebounds. Jason Harvey netted 13 points, Nick Henry 11 and Phil White 10.

At Orono, Tristan Desmet scored a power-play goal with 7:46 remaining in the third period off a pass from Sonia Corriveau to give the Black Bears the win.
Desmet also scored in the first period and Corriveau added a power-play goal in the second for 13-11-3 Maine. Cheryl White assisted on Desmet’s first goal. Rachel Gettings made 17 saves on 19 shots.
Stephanie Wood and Nikki Petrich each netted a goal for the 3-21-3 Huskies. Crystal Rochon and Jessica Coppney each tallied an assist. Marissa Hourihan stopped 38 out of 41 shots.
