BOSTON – Lovell’s Mike Lansing and Auburn’s Jeff Caron finished one-two in the 3,000 meters at the America East Indoor Track Championships at Boston University this weekend to highlight the performance turned in by the University of Maine’s teams.

The men’s and women’s teams each finished seventh. Northeastern won both meets.

Northeastern’s men racked up 147 points, one more than Albany. Maine finished with 64 points. The Northeastern women had 173.5 points and runner-up Boston University had 134. The Maine women had 48 points.

Lansing set a school record in the 3,000 meters with a time of 8:17.81. Caron posted a time of 8:23.13.

In other men’s highlights, South Berwick’s Anthony Morgan was second in the weight throw (17.64 meters); Maine’s 4×800 meter relay team also took a second; Paul Rupprecht (4:12.01) was third in the mile; fourths went to Falmouth’s Kirby Davis in the 5,000 meters (14:47.85) and Chris Warren in the high jump as he cleared 1.93 meters; Hampden’s Eric Libby was fifth in the 500 meters (1:05.77); Phippsburg’s Sydney Harrison was sixth in the 200 meters (22.28) and seventh in the 55 meters (6.67); South Portland’s Jesse Ludwig was seventh in the triple jump (13.53 meters); Ivi Nwosu was eighth in the 55 meters (6.75 seconds); Scott O’Connor was eighth in the 800 meters (1:56.35) and Portland’s Donald Drake took an eighth in the 1000 meters (2:30.51).

East Vassalboro’s Kathryn Souviney and Belgrade’s Hana Pelletier paced the Maine women.

Souviney was second in the pentathlon with 3545 points and also finished fourth in the 55 meter hurdles (8.25). Pelletier was second in the 800 meters (2:12.34). Lisbon’s Stephanie McCusker was fourth in the triple jump (11.63 meters) and fifth in the long jump (5.276 meters); Caribou’s Lindsay Burlock was fourth in the 400 meters (57.53); Buxton’s Micralyn Wiechman led three Maine shot-putters in the top eight as she was fourth (12 meters), Mary McDonagh was sixth (11.67 meters) and Kennebunk’s Maegan Burke was eighth (11.42 meters). Saco’s Erin Hatch tied for seventh in the high jump by clearing 1.53 meters.

The Maine women also picked up points in the 4×400 and 4×800 relays.
