The theft of two power tools from an apartment building was solved in part after witnesses reported seeing men’s shoes outside the door of one apartment and a green Dodge Neon parked nearby.

Jesse Cyr, 27, was summoned Tuesday on charges of burglary and theft in connection with the Feb. 14 theft of a cordless miter saw and a power sander from a French Street apartment building in Bangor where work was being done.

A worker reported seeing a man put tools into a green Dodge Neon outside the apartment. Checking the site the worker found the tools missing and he called the apartment’s owner, reported Bangor police Officer Douglas Moore.

The owner remembered seeing a pair of men’s shoes outside the apartment door, the same apartment where the car had been parked. The woman inside told police that a man named Jesse had been there overnight.

With a partial license plate, the police were able to track the car to the Dillingham Street residence of Cyr, who denied knowing anyone who lived on French Street, let alone being on French Street the night before, Moore said.

Cyr allowed Moore to search the Neon and his basement and the officer didn’t find the tools. The woman in the apartment later confronted Cyr who told her where he had hidden the tools in nearby woods. She recovered the tools and informed police.

A motorist stopped for speeding Sunday on Interstate 95 in Old Town faces drug-related charges after a police dog indicated there was something illegal in the car.

Radar showed that Jeremia Goodall, 27, of Indian Island was traveling 93 mph in a 65 mph zone, reported Old Town police Officer Seth Burnes. Approaching the vehicle, Burnes detected what smelled like marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

Indian Island police Officer James Fearon brought in K-9 Pumba to see whether the dog could pick up any scents. Pumba did so, and police searched the car, finding a small pair of scissors with residue on it and a small roach with residue on it, in the ashtray.

Burnes reported he also found a small bag of what appeared to be marijuana in Goodall’s front left pocket.

Goodall was summoned for possession of a usable amount of marijuana and sale and use of drug paraphernalia, and was given a ticket for speeding.
