Brewer library celebrates the joy of reading aloud

BREWER – The Brewer Library commenced registration for its annual Family Read Aloud Month on Feb. 21. Registration will continue throughout the week. This year the popular program, which runs through March, will feature wildlife stories.

Families who participate in the program are asked to spend 90 minutes each week reading together. Parents may read to children or children may read to parents. Any reading material is acceptable, but families may wish to adhere to the wildlife stories theme.

Each family will receive a folder with its photo on the front. Reading days will be marked on the folder with stickers each time the family visits the library.

Each week a family will receive a free paperback book of its choice for every 90 minutes of reading. Families who read 90 minutes each week for the entire month will receive a $10 gift certificate from Borders.

Special guests during Read Aloud Month will be Tony the Bugman, who will bring live animals and present three programs; and Kevin Duplessie, who will entertain with storytelling and balloons.

To obtain more information or register, call the Brewer Public Library at 989-7943.
