Elms eliminates Husson from NAC tournament

NEWTON, Mass. – Enato Lindments led five players in double figures with 14 points as the Elms College men’s basketball team knocked off Husson of Bangor 73-61 in NAC tournament semifinal action Friday.

The Blazers of Chicopee, Mass., will face Lasell College in the final. The Lasers beat Castleton State (Vt.) 65-40 in the other semi.

John Ancrum, Lonnie Branyon III, and Justin Davis notched 13 points apiece for the winners. Anthony Bernard chipped in with 10.

Tyler Muzzy paced the Eagles with 15 points. Phil White tossed in 13 and Buddy Leavitt added 11.

At Standish, Sanni Ojibara chalked up 25 points and hit five 3-pointers to lead New Jersey City University to a win in the Division III Independents Northeast Regional Semifinal.

Mark Washington chipped in with 11 points for the winners.

Jon Pratt’s 21 points led the Monks and Noah LaRoche added 12.

At Standish, Laura Pelkey nailed six 3-pointers en route to a 22-point effort as the Monks earned a Division III Independent Northeast Regional semifinal win.

Margaret Blauvelt chipped in with 14 points and Val Dumais 10 for St. Joe’s.

Shayna Barnes led Mitchell College with 12 points and Gina DeRosier tallied 10.

At Gorham, Ashley Marble tallied 21 points to lead the Huskies to a Little East semifinal victory.

The Huskies will face Keene State College (N.H.) in the title game. Keene State knocked off Eastern Connecticut 64-53 in the early semifinal.

Dianna Thibadeau chalked up 15 points for Southern Maine while Katie Frost and Megan Myles added 11 apiece.

Brittany Rosen and Kristy Nix each scored 10 points for the Anchorwomen.
