OLD TOWN – Paper dust caused a small fire Thursday night at the Georgia-Pacific mill, according to G-P officials.

The fire in the mill’s No. 2 paper machine started shortly after 10 p.m. and took crews about 20 minutes to extinguish. There were no injuries. Little or no damage occurred to the paper machine, G-P spokeswoman Kelli Manigault said Friday.

“Our mill employees and emergency response team had it under control and completely terminated at 10:38 p.m.,” Manigault said.

The Old Town Fire Department also responded, but the fire already was under control by the time the crew arrived on scene, she said.
