CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Deborah Spillane netted a goal in each game over the weekend as Boston College beat the University of Maine women’s hockey team twice, virtually eliminating the Black Bears from the Hockey East playoff picture.

The Eagles beat the Bears 2-1 Saturday and won 5-2 Sunday.

In Saturday’s game, Spillane scored the winning goal with 4:21 left. She also scored BC’s first goal with assists from Jill McInnis and Sarah Feldman. Allison Quandt made 32 saves on 33 saves.

Tristan Desmet scored her 16th goal of the season for Maine. Kate Sunstrum and Laura Maddin provided the assists. Rachel Gettings stopped 15 of the 17 shots she faced.

On Sunday, Colleen Harris notched two goals for the 10-17-4 Eagles. Michelle Lombardi and McInnis had one each. Christin Stuart helped with three assists. Quandt faced 16 shots, saving 14.

Jill McInnis and Brigitte Laflamme each scored once for Maine. Gettings made 11 saves on 16 shots for 14-13-3 Bears.
