In November I voted against the Palesky tax cap but knew that vote was probably a mistake. The governor and Legislators need to be hit over the head before they “get it.”

Last June voters also sent the message that they wanted 55 percent state funding for education but recently in the Bangor Daily News it was reported the wishes of the voters would be extended until 2009. I guess any future voter initiatives also need to have a deadline date on the ballot.

Here in SAD 41 taxpayers cannot increase taxes for education.

In Brownville the mill rate is at $23.28. How much more does Gov. Baldacci think people can do? So if he does “get it,” he doesn’t care.

The BDN reported that most of the money will be earmarked for urban areas but I bet their mill rate isn’t at $23.28. Are we still supposed to believe there is equity for all of Maine?

Although the 55 percent school-funding bill passed, the voters’ wishes are basically being ignored. We need to remember that at the next election.
