CARRABASSETT VALLEY – Maine used its home-course advantage to win the Banknorth Eastern J2 nordic ski championship Sunday, winning every race in the competition.
Maine totaled 16,233 points, followed by Vermont (14,598), New Hampshire (14,417), Massachusetts (10,043) and Connecticut (199).
Three Mainers, Hillary McNamee of Fort Fairfield, Justine Cyr of Fort Kent and Lucy Garrac of Freeport, claimed the top three places in the individual competition.
A Maine team consisting of McNamee, Cyr, Sam Tarling of Cumberland and Dinesh Costlow of Auburn won the final event of the weekend competition, the 2.2-meter classic and 2.2-meter freestyle mixed relay.
