DELAND, Fla. – Shane Jordan doubled, singled three times and knocked in two runs Sunday as Stetson rolled to a 13-2 baseball victory over the University of Maine.

The Hatters eked out a 6-5, 10-inning win on Saturday.

In Sunday’s game, Stetson took advantage of five errors, and pushed across eight runs in the last of the sixth inning to chase starter Greg Norton and put the game out of reach.

Greg Creek paced the Black Bears with a two-run homer and a single. Joel Barrett and Ryan Quintal each doubled and singled while Mike Ferriggi singled twice.

Brandon Paritz’s two-run single and a three-run homer by Chris Johnson were the big blows in Stetson’s eight-run sixth.

On Saturday, John Destefano’s one-out single in the 10th inning scored Paritz (single) with the winning run off reliever Ryan Brown as the Hatters earned the victory.

David Golliner stroked a two-run double for Stetson, which had five players with two hits apiece. Tyler Gottlieb pitched a scoreless ninth to get the win.

Creek hit a solo home run and a double to spark UMaine, while Izaryk singled twice. Bears starter Steve Richard allowed eight hits and five runs in six innings.

UMaine trailed 5-1 when it struck for two runs in the eighth and ninth innings.

In the eighth, Creek doubled with one out and scored on Quintal’s double to left-center. Curt Smith reached on an infield hit and pinch hitter Matt McGraw followed with an RBI single.

In the ninth, Joe Hough reached on an error with one out, Izaryk singled and Barrett walked to load the bases. Wild pitches plated both runs to tie the game at 5-5.

At Clearwater, Fla., Aaron Brideau led the Eagles to victory in their opener Sunday with a double, triple and three RBIs.

Jason Harvey notched a triple and two RBIs while Kyle Mathieu singled twice, tripled and knocked in a run for Husson of Bangor. Sean Brown added two singles and a triple and Billy Kane two singles.

Tyler Tille paced Mount St. Joseph (Ohio) with three singles and a double.

Saint Joseph’s wins three games

Saint Joseph’s College of Standish opened its season with three victories over the weekend in Florida.

At St. Petersburg on Saturday, Saint Joseph’s swept Catholic University 5-0 and 5-1. On Sunday at West Tampa, the Monks beat Curry 7-5.

In Saturday’s opener, Greg Kimball and Jack Hughes combined on a two-hit shutout with seven strikeouts for the Monks.

Mark Clapp paced the offense with a two-run triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ben Muniz.

Pedro Rivera and Joseph Maca singled for the Cardinals.

In Saturady’s nightcap, Clapp slapped a two-run single and Muniz scored on an error to help Saint Joseph’s get the sweep.

Rivera scored on an error by Clapp for Catholic.

On Sunday, Clapp notched two singles with an RBI as the Monks earned the victory.

Derek McIntosh and Charlie Furbush each added an RBI single. Dan Enman earned the win in relief.

Chris Scarola knocked a solo homer for Curry College.

At Orono on Saturday, Jaclyn Hawkins netted a goal plus two assists for the Huskies.

Leslie Hurlburt, Natalie Vibert and Katherine VanDeveire added a goal each for 15-11-8 Connecticut. Kaitlyn Shain had 37 saves on 38 shots.

Tristan Desmet scored the 14-15-3 Black Bears’ goal off assists from Cheryl White and Andrea Steranko. Rachel Gettings stopped 10 of 15 shots.
