The Maine State Planning Office survey of home heating oil prices found the current statewide average for No. 2 heating oil to be $2.05 per gallon, which is up 6 cents since last week and 52 cents since last year at this time. Propane prices averaged $2.02 a gallon in the latest survey. Even though demand for heating oil has been strong in the last couple of weeks, only a few more weeks remain in which winter weather might cause a surge in demand.
