SEARSPORT – Residents go to the polls today to elect two new selectmen, budget committee members and representatives to the SAD 56 board.

Longtime Selectman Bruce Mills is not seeking re-election, but current Selectman Carol Hersom is seeking another term.

Hersom is joined on the ballot by Jeffery Brazier, James Cunningham and Richard Desmarais. The top two vote-recipients will be elected. The seats carry three-year terms.

Benedict Crimaudo, Faith Garrold, Ralph Harvey, Marjorie Knuuti and Joan Probert are on the ballot for seats on the town budget committee. In all, nine seats must be filled. Voters can write in a candidate’s name.

SAD 56 board member Nedra Bellows is seeking re-election. Two seats with three-year terms are open. The second seat could be filled by a write-in candidate.

Voting is 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at the Public Safety Building.
