BANGOR – The John Bapst Players will perform the musical comedy “Guys and Dolls” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 18-19, at the John Bapst Memorial High School auditorium, 100 Broadway. It all started as a bet. Gambler Nathan Detroit, organizer of the “oldest established permanent floating crap game in New York,” needs money. Nathan’s buddy Sky Masterson thinks he can romance any girl, even mission worker Sarah Brown, and is willing to bet on it. So begins the hilarious and improbable romance between Masterson and Sarah Brown.

To make matters worse for Nathan, not only is his showgirl girlfriend, Adelaide, insisting on finally getting married after 14 years, she tells him that if he doesn’t stop gambling, they’re through.
