Researching Irish roots topic of library lecture

BANGOR – “Researching Ancestral Roots in Ireland” will be the topic of the next meeting of the Penobscot County Genealogical Society at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, in the Lecture Hall at Bangor Public Library.

Richard Brown will talk about his visits to Ireland researching his family roots. He also will share his father’s wartime experience in the 446th Bombardment Group, when he was shot down over the Rhine River.

Dr. Gary Fessler will be on hand to play the bagpipes and answer questions about the history and workings of the bagpipes.

Authentic soda bread with real Irish butter, two kinds of cheese from Dublin and Irish pastries will be available to sample, along with hot coffee and Irish tea. Also available will be information on the top 10 Irish Web sites.
