SCARBOROUGH – A 15-year-old girl and a 20-year-old woman were hospitalized after being found stabbed as part of what police said was an apparent suicide pact.

Officials retrieved from the scene a knife and a container of what they said could be poison.

Police Chief Robert Moulton said he did not believe anyone else was involved.

A Scarborough police official said the 20-year-old called police from a cellular telephone about 5 p.m. Tuesday and said she and a friend were bleeding and needed help.

Police arrived on the scene between Scarborough Middle School and the Scarborough Public Library almost immediately and found the two, who were rushed to Maine Medical Center for treatment.
