The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Portland and Auburn/Lewiston will be the beneficiaries of the eighth annual Peoples Beach to Beacon 10K road race which will be held on Saturday, Aug. 6 in Cape Elizabeth. Peoples Heritage Bank, through the Banknorth Charitable Foundation, will supply a cash donation of $30,000 to the Boys and Girls Clubs. The clubs will also benefit from fund-raising activities and publicity valued at $40,000. The race is one of the state’s most popular events as it draws a field of 5,000 runners to Cape Elizabeth and will attract as many as 10,000 spectators.
