SWANVILLE – After being hit by a storm that made travel to the annual town meeting treacherous, residents decided Tuesday to adopt a last-minute article that will allow for continuation of the meeting to the next week in the event of future storms.

With sleet and snow raging outside, approximately 40 voters took refuge in the town office for Tuesday night’s session. It took the group approximately two hours to wade through the warrant, which established spending requirements for the coming year, according to former Selectman Richard Marsden.

The voters re-elected Selectman Robert Herbest to another three-year term. Meg Stockwell was re-elected town clerk and excise tax collector, Peter “Kit” Kerrigan was re-elected treasurer and tax collector, and Robert Hatch was re-elected to a five-year term on the planning board.

Dan Horton and Chris Walke each received two write-in votes for an open two-year seat on the budget committee. Walke broke the tie by deferring to Horton.
