NEW YORK – Old Town High School junior Cassie Hintz won the 5,000-meter run at the National Scholastic Indoor Track and Field Championships in Manhattan on Friday.
Hintz, the reigning Class B state indoor track and field record holder and two-time defending champion in the two-mile race, ran Friday’s race in 17 minutes, 12.2 seconds at the New Balance Track and Field Center facility at the Armory NYC.
Hintz also won the two-mile race at the 18th New England Interscholastic Boys and Girls Track and Field Championships last weekend with the second-best time nationally in that event this season.
