SCRANTON, Pa. – Forward Justine Pouravelis led Bowdoin College with 14 points as the Polar Bears earned a 63-51 NCAA Division III women’s basketball sectional win over William Smith College on Friday night.
Bowdoin of Brunswick will play host University of Scranton, a 64-43 winner over Messiah College, in the sectional final Saturday. The victor earns a Final Four berth in the NCAA Div. III Tournament.
Marissa Berne of Falmouth followed with nine points for Bowdoin, which is two wins away from a second straight berth in the national championship game. Pouravelis, a junior from Old Orchard Beach, also had eight rebounds, three blocks, and two steals.
Pria Young netted 14 points for the Herons of Geneva, N.Y., and Marissa Vespa had 11.

At Bradenton, Fla., Aaron Izaryk doubled once and singled twice, scoring a run and driving in two as the Black Bears took a win.
Mike Ferriggi and Curt Smith had a double and a single apiece for Maine, while Ryan Quintal had two singles. Joe Hough and Greg Creek each stole two bases.
Mike Sandonato led Lehigh with two singles.

Wabash sweeps Husson
At Clearwater, Fla., Billy King posted a pair of hits and two RBIs in each game as the Little Giants of Crawfordsville, Ind., downed the Eagles 10-6 in the opener and 7-2 in the second game.
In the first game, King’s two-run triple highlighted a five-run fourth inning that gave the Little Giants the lead for good.
David Culp had a double and two singles, Nick Pompeo added three singles, and Scott Hamilton had two singles and two RBIs.
Kyle Mathieu paced Husson with two singles and two RBIs.
In the second game, three Husson errors, including one with the bases loaded and two outs, led to three unearned runs for Wabash in the sixth inning, snapping a 2-2 tie.
King finished with two singles and two RBIs, and Nick George added three singles.
For the Eagles, Steve Estes and Dev Potvin each recorded an RBI single. Starter Barrett Dionne also pitched well, according to coach John Winkin.

St. Joseph’s, Framingham split
At Lakeland, Fla., Derek McIntosh hit a two-run single in the sixth and sparked a 17-run inning that gave the Saint Joseph’s College Monks a doubleheader split with Framingham (Mass.) State College in the Clearwater Invitational Friday afternoon.
The Rams won the first game 5-4 and the Monks came back to win the next 19-7.
In the second game, McIntosh was 3-for-3 (all singles) with three RBIs, and Matt Shanahan had a double, two singles and four RBIs for the Monks of Standish. Steven Stout threw two innings of one-hit, scoreless relief to notch the win.
Bill Moynihan led Framingham with a double, a single, and two RBIs. Marcus Buzanoski had two singles and two RBIs.
In the first game, Dave Brumby went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two singles, and two RBIs to lead the Rams to the win. Dave Delory had three singles and a stolen base.
McIntosh led St. Joe’s with a double, a single, and one RBI. Mark Clapp and Charlie Furbush each had two singles.

St. Joseph’s drops two
At Cape Coral, Fla., St. Joseph’s College lost first to Ursinus 16-0 and then to Eastern Nazarene 9-8.
In the first game, Mary Reid led the 7-1 Bears with three singles and three runs scored.
Darcy Lee tripled, while Helene Liaci and Allyson Ferguson managed singles for the Monks.
In the second game, Rebecca Welch singled four times for 2-2 Eastern Nazarene as they came back from an 8-2 deficit going into the seventh.
Liaci had a homerun and a single for 5-3 St. Joseph’s. Lee singled three times, while Tessa Grindle had a double and two singles. Kahler Dowling and Leanne Morton had two singles apiece.
