RUMFORD – Anna McLoon of Caribou edged Dorcas Wonsavage of Etna, N.H., for the women’s 5-kilometer Classic win at the Banknorth Eastern Championships Saturday at Black Mountain.

McLoon, who competes for the Maine Winter Sports Center, clocked a 19:08.5 while Kate Whitcomb, who also competes for the MWSC, came in third.

Fred Bailey of Colby College in Waterville was third in the men’s race.

McLoon and Whitcomb also won the women’s two-person relay freestyle sprint and the MWSC team of Brayton Osgood and Tom Keefe won the men’s relay. MWSC’s Steve Scott and Jeffrey Beal were third.
