BANGOR – A former Corinna man remained Monday at Penobscot County Jail on two counts of elevated aggravated assault after he reportedly stabbed two men in Dexter over the weekend.

Ernest F. Carrow, 22, a transient, is being held on $2,000 cash bail or $25,000 bond, the jail reported Monday.

Carrow will make his initial appearance this week in Newport District Court on the charges, which stemmed from an incident early Saturday morning at a Main Street apartment in Dexter.

The apartment’s tenant was hosting a party where a fight started between Carrow and an 18-year-old male, according to an affidavit by Dexter Police Officer Holly Eastman.

The fight continued outside the apartment, where witnesses said Carrow pulled a 3-inch jackknife and stabbed the teenager four times in the back, Eastman wrote.

Another teenager at the party stepped in to stop the fight. He allegedly punched Carrow in the face and was stabbed in the arm by Carrow, the court document stated.

Two girls at the party took the injured teenagers to Mayo Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, where both were treated for stab wounds.

Neither suffered life-threatening injuries.

When Dexter police arrived at the apartment, they spoke to several people who were at the party. Police also found the jackknife and Carrow, who was arrested and charged in connection with the stabbings.

Elevated aggravated assault is a Class A felony punishable by up to 40 years in prison.
