LEWISTON – Dan Rautenberg collected a hat trick as Cape Elizabeth beat Winslow 4-2 in the state Class B high school hockey championship game at the Colisee Monday night.

Rautenberg scored the game-winner when he snapped a 2-2 tie in the third period with a 16-foot backhander.

Rautenberg and Zack Juliano had staked the Capers to a 2-0 lead in the first period, but the Raiders rallied to tie it on third-period goals by Matt Bickford and Nate Pelletier.

But Rautenberg notched the winner as he skated from right to left across the slot before shoveling a backhander past Winslow goalie Devon Grenier.

Rautenberg, who had assisted on Juliano’s goal, added an empty-netter.

Ryan Hatch finished with 20 saves for the 20-2 Capers, while Grenier made 29 stops for the 17-5-1 Black Raiders.
