LITTLETON – Residents in the neighboring towns of Littleton and Monticello will be heading to the polls and gearing up for annual town meetings on Monday evening.
Littleton Town Manager Jennifer Gogan said Tuesday the polls will be open to voters from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the town office.
Residents will be asked to approve a $348,272 municipal budget, a figure that Gogan said is up $23,455 from last year, because of larger allocations for the Fire Department and the roads and bridges line items.
Residents will also be choosing two selectmen and filling one open seat on the SAD 29 board of directors.
Incumbent Selectmen Barry Campbell and Robert Bartlett are running unopposed for the two open seats on the board. Laurie Bartlett is also running unopposed for the vacant SAD 29 slot.
The town meeting will commence at the Meduxnekeag Rambler’s Clubhouse at 7 p.m.
In Monticello, Town Manager Ginger Pryor said Tuesday the town will present a $232,182 budget to residents for approval. That figure is up $21,000 from last year because of higher insurance costs and greater allocations for roads.
Pryor said Tuesday that six candidates are running for the two open slots on the Board of Selectmen.
Incumbent T.J. Peterson is vying for one slot, along with Brian Harvey, David Pierce, Richard Ross, Alonzo Tapley and Terry Wade.
Sandra Wilkins is running unopposed for the one open slot on the SAD 29 board of directors.
Polls will be open at the town office from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the town meeting will follow at the Monticello Fire Station at 7 p.m.
