Cheers to spring

Eat, drink and be merry at Opus’ spring fling wine dinner. Chef Roger Gelis has paired six courses with five Mediterranean wines. The dinner will take place at 6 p.m. Monday, March 21. For information or reservations (which are recommended), call 945-5100. Opus is located at 193 Broad St. in Bangor.

Just desserts

Satisfy your sweet tooth and help a good cause at Spruce Run’s annual dessert gala and silent auction. In addition to decadent treats, guests can bid on framed photographs, pottery, jewelry, dinners, guided bird-watching trips, fiber art and gift certificates from local businesses, including a bicycle tuneup from Rose Bicycle in Orono. The event will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Campus Ballroom at University College of Bangor. Tickets cost $15 per person, and all proceeds benefit Spruce Run’s efforts to end domestic violence in Maine. For tickets or information, call 945-5102.

Farm fresh

If you love to cook with fresh, local ingredients, Community Supported Agriculture is the way to go. Fisher Farm in Winterport urges local residents to think spring by joining its CSA program, in which consumers prepay for a share of the season’s harvest, and receive a weekly selection of fresh produce. Vegetables will be available from June 7 through Oct. 25, and the farm also offers organic eggs, pork and grass-fed beef. For information, call 223-2293.
