Castle Hill

Residents have one contested race and a write-in on their hands in this year’s elections, according to Castle Hill Town Manager John Edgecomb.

To fill one open three-year term to the Board of Selectmen, residents will choose between incumbent Herman Condon and Robert Smith.

Nobody is running for one three-year term as town assessor. The seat will appear as a write-in on the ballot.

The town will host its election and annual town meeting on Tuesday, March 22, at the Castle Hill Grange Hall on the State Road. Polls will open at 3 p.m. and the town meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Chapman

Voters are expected to make quick work of elections this year, with only one municipal seat and one candidate on the ballot, according to Chapman Town Manager John Edgecomb.

Patricia Sutherland is running unopposed for a three-year term to the Board of Selectmen. The seat is being left empty by Russell Smith.

The town will hold its election at 7 p.m. Monday, March 28, during its annual town meeting, which will be held at the Chapman Town Hall on Town Hall Road.

Easton

Only three seats are up for election this year in town, but two of them are hotly contested, according to Easton Town Clerk Cheryl Clark.

With two three-year terms to the Board of Selectmen up for grabs, incumbent David Steele is running against Scott Allen, Lewis Copeland and David Littlefield for one of the seats. Incumbent Bruce Flewelling is not seeking another term on the board.

Also on the ballot is one three-year term to the school board. Incumbent Tom Osgood is running unopposed for the seat.

Elections and the annual town meeting will be held on Monday, April 4. Polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Easton Town Office on the Station Road. The town meeting will be held at 8 p.m. at the Odd Fellows Hall on the Station Road.

Mapleton

Locals are expecting to see some new faces in municipal offices this election year as officials are not seeking new bids for municipal seats, according to Mapleton Town Manager John Edgecomb.

In the town’s only contested races, Christopher Patterson and James Burrill are seeking one open three-year term to the Board of Selectmen. The seat is being left by Dana Packard.

Also on the ballot is one three-year term for a town assessor, though no one took out nomination papers for the seat. The term will appear as a write-in on the ballot.

Running unopposed for one three-year term as a sewer district trustee is Vernon Boyce. The seat is being left by Keith Doyen.

The town will hold its elections and annual town meeting on Monday, March 21, at Mapleton Elementary School on Main Street. Polls will open at noon and the town meeting will be held at 8 p.m.

Mars Hill

Though this community does not hold an annual town meeting, residents still will be busy in March as they cast their votes for municipal seats in town elections this year, according to Mars Hill Town Manager Ray Mersereau.

First up on the ballot is one three-year term to the Mars Hill Town Council. Incumbent Todd Grass is running unopposed for the seat.

Running for one open three-year term on the library board of trustees is Harley York Jr.

Seeking two three-year terms as utility district directors are Travis W. Kearney and Emmett Porter.

Also on the ballot are two three-year terms on the SAD 42 board of directors. Incumbents Carolee Hallett and Trent Lundeen are running unopposed for the positions.

Mars Hill will hold its elections on Monday, March 21. Polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Mars Hill Town Office on the West Ridge Road.

Washburn

A slate of municipal seats are up for election during this year’s town meeting, according to Washburn Town Clerk Beverly Turner.

On the ballot are two three-year terms to the Town Council. Incumbents Fred Thomas and Jeff Wark are running unopposed for the seats

For three three-year terms to the SAD 45 school board, incumbents Katherine Palmer and Carla Rossignol are running unopposed. The third term will appear as a write-in on the ballot.

Seeking a one-year term to the school board is Andrew Churchill. Dean Bird recently resigned from the seat.

Washburn elections will be held Monday, March 21. Polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Washburn Civic Center on Main Street. The annual town meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at Washburn District High School on Main Street.

Westfield

Town officials will take nominations from the floor when residents gather for their election and annual town meeting on Monday, according to Richard Watson, chairman of the Westfield Board of Selectpeople.

This year, residents will vote on just one seat, a one-year term to the Board of Selectpeople. Susan Fulton’s term on the board ended this year.

The election and annual town meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, March 21, at the Westfield Consolidated School on the Egypt Road.
