CHICAGO – Gatorade Thirst Quencher announced South Portland High’s Whitney Morrow as the 2005 Maine Girls Basketball Player of the Year.

Morrow, a 5-10 senior shooting guard, averaged 16.6 points, 3.1 steals, 2.8 assists, and one blocked shot per game for the Riots. She has scored more than 1,000 points and is the all-time girls scoring leader in school history. Morrow had an 80.9 free-throw shooting percentage and is the Maine Basketball Coaches Association foul shooting champion for Western Maine and a first-team SMAA All-Star.
