Old Town police arrested a woman Friday night for violating bail conditions after they found her hiding in a closet at a Water Street apartment.
Officers Marc Egan and Thomas Adams stopped at the apartment building of Stephen Scovil, 36, of Old Town sometime after 8 p.m. for a routine check. Scovil’s girlfriend, Kimberly Robinson, 36, of Old Town allegedly had assaulted him sometime before Friday, and she was not supposed to be at his apartment.
The officers entered the building and immediately smelled marijuana smoke, which they determined was coming from Scovil’s apartment, Old Town Police Sgt. Travis Roy said Sunday.
Egan and Adams asked Scovil if they could search his apartment. Scovil consented. They asked if Robinson was there. He said she was not.
The officers found a small amount of marijuana on a coffee table in the living room and 11 pills identified as prescription sleeping pills and a cut straw that had cocaine residue on it, Roy said.
Further search led police to a closet, where they found Robinson hidden underneath a blanket. She was arrested for violating bail conditions.
In addition, Scovil was issued summonses for possession of marijuana and possession of Schedule Z and Schedule W drugs.

A transient was arrested Saturday after police stopped a truck he was driving and found psychedelic mushrooms, marijuana and a Connecticut State Police badge.
Henry Jenkins, 25, was driving a truck late Saturday afternoon on Ohio Street in Bangor with two passengers when he was stopped because the truck had an expired inspection sticker.
The passengers, a 26-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man, provided photo identification, but Jenkins did not have a license and only gave Bangor police Officer Steve Jordan his name.
Jordan was advised that Jenkins’ license had been suspended, and Jenkins was arrested.
A search of the vehicle produced a cigarette box with a small amount of marijuana and a handful of psilocybin mushrooms.
Officers also found about an ounce of marijuana and about a half-gallon of mushrooms in a book bag along with the badge, Jordan wrote in his report.
Jenkins was charged with possession of scheduled drugs and receiving stolen property for the Connecticut police badge. He told Jordan that the badge was not stolen and that he had a receipt for it.

Old Town police are still looking for a man who witnesses said was hit by a car early Sunday morning while he was walking on Main Street.
Sgt. Travis Roy said Sunday night that an unidentified man tried to cross the street around 2 a.m. to get into the Late Night Local, also known as the “Drunk Bus,” a free van service run by two University of Maine Greek organizations.
Instead, the man ran right into the path of a car, shattering its windshield, witnesses told police.
The man, who Roy said was very intoxicated, refused medical treatment and left the scene on foot.
A student at the Penobscot Job Corps Center on Union Street reported early Sunday morning that her laptop computer valued at $1,500 was stolen.
Kacey Davis, 18, told police that she loaned the laptop to a friend, Settimo Angelini, 20. Angelini spoke with police and said that someone came into his room between 7 p.m. and midnight Saturday and took the computer while he was out of the room.
Angelini added that he wasn’t sure if his room was locked at the time, but told police that the dormitory rooms can easily be broken into with credit cards or other devices.
Bangor police Officer Wade Betters advised Davis to check area pawnshops for the computer. The officer did not have any suspects.
