GLENBURN – A state fire official is expected to be on hand Monday at the scene of a fire that damaged a Pine View Avenue home on Wednesday.

An electrical inspector for the State Fire Marshal’s Office will be at the residence to determine whether the home’s electrical system had anything to do with the March 16 fire, said Sgt. Joel Davis of the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The fire and smoke heavily damaged the garage and to some extent the living quarters above it. Firefighters at the scene reported that water from some source had been flowing from the second floor to the garage below and that the floor on the second level had separated from the walls. The water stopped after the electricity was cut to the home, firefighters said.

The owners of the home, the Goodells, were apparently out of state on vacation at the time of the fire. Smoke coming from the home was noticed Wednesday night by a neighbor who by chance had gone out to her car. The neighbor credited firefighters with a quick response to the fire.
