Chester

Residents will gather at Marianne Municipal Building at 8 tonight to decide several questions.

Besides considering the proposed municipal budget of $385,123 for the 2005-06 fiscal year, voters will decide whether to build a new salt-sand shed at a cost of about $200,000. Residents will be asked to buy a 2-acre plot for $40,000, including legal fees. Most of the money, about $30,000, would come from an excise tax.

A slate of candidates is running for municipal positions. Ron Clark and Wanda Tash are seeking election as cemetery caretaker. Tash, Jennifer Vachon and Arline Shaw are running for tax collector. Current collector Ann Tash did not seek to run.

The meeting will be held at the town municipal building. Polling will be held throughout the day.

Lee

Residents will be asked to approve a $242,938 budget when they meet at 7 tonight at Mt. Jefferson High School for the annual town meeting after deciding who will fill open selectmen, school board and town clerk positions.

Selectman Robert House is facing Kirk Ritchie in a race for one three-year seat, and Town Clerk Nancy Noyes runs unopposed. Two SAD 30 positions are to be filled, although no candidates have yet been named.

The budget is broken down into 55 categories, town officials said.

Winn

Residents will meet tonight at 7 at the community hall to vote on a $189,462 municipal budget that includes a $10,000 tax increase to pay for snowplowing and sand spreading.

Although no one has been officially nominated for an open selectman’s position, that seat will be decided at the meeting. Town treasurer, clerk and two SAD 30 positions are also to be filled, town officials said.

Polls will be open from noon to 6 p.m.

Sherman

Sherman residents will gather at 7:30 tonight at the town office to vote on a 57-article town warrant.

Among many issues, voters will decide whether to borrow funds for a new firetruck and they will also be asked to approve a five-year contract with the Patten Ambulance Service.

Residents will elect one selectmen for a three-year-term. Alonzo Guiggey and Jeffrey Long are both in the running for that slot.

No candidates have taken out papers to fill one open slot on the SAD 25 board. The seat will most likely be filled by a write-in candidate.

Voting will take place from noon to 6:30 p.m. at the town office.
