BANGOR – Avitat Bangor, which provides refueling and other services at Bangor International Airport, has been named by ExxonMobil as among the top service providers of its kind in the Northeast region.
Avitat, a division of BIA, received the Silver Award, signifying second place, for 2004 in a region that includes New England, New Jersey and New York. The award is based on overall business performance, customer service, image, quality control and other factors as rated by customers between July and September 2004.
“The ability to compete successfully against other major service providers from our region is a credit to the quality of our employees and reflects positively upon the airport,” Rebecca Hupp, the airport’s director, said in a prepared statement issued Friday. “It is because of the efforts of our employees that Bangor is recognized as a world-class facility.”
To become an Avitat, an ExxonMobil dealer must comply with stringent guidelines and maintain a determined business volume.
“The city of Bangor is proud that Avitat Bangor won this prestigious award and continues to be recognized as a leading international aviation service provider,” Frank Farrington, Bangor’s mayor, said in a prepared statement.
First place went to Jet Aviation in Bedford, Mass., an airport official said.
