WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Shaw’s and Star Markets supermarkets and the supplier of their fresh turkeys are allowing customers to return 10- to 14-pound turkeys because they have developed an objectionable odor.
The turkeys, supplied by Prestage Foods of St. Pauls, N.C., pose no health risk, according to the companies, but they do not meet quality requirements.
The turkeys, with sell-by dates of between March 28 and April 2, can be returned to the Shaw’s or Star where it was purchased for a refund or exchange.
The turkeys were sold in 209 Shaw’s and Star stores in all six New England states.
