BANGOR – A LaGrange man waived indictment Tuesday and pleaded guilty to federal gun and drug charges.
Richard A. Sibley Jr., 46, pleaded guilty to four counts – possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of marijuana, cocaine and cocaine base – in U.S. District Court in Bangor. A sentencing date has not been set.
He remained late Tuesday in Penobscot County Jail after U.S. District Judge John Woodcock postponed a hearing on bail to allow the U.S. Probation Office more time to investigate where and with whom Sibley would live if he is released.
Sibley faces up to 10 years in prison on the gun charge and three years on each of the drug charges. He also could be fined a total of more than $500,00..
Since 1977, Sibley has been convicted in Penobscot County Superior Court on two burglary felonies and three counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to documents filed in federal court.
