Blaine

BLAINE – Residents elected several municipal officers Monday night during their annual town meeting after nominating them from the floor, according to Blaine Town Manager Chappy Clark.

They approved Michael Tweedie and Bret DeLong for two three-year terms to the Board of Selectmen and re-elected Josh Tweedie to a three-year term to the SAD 42 board of directors, Clark said Tuesday.

They also voted in Eldon Crouse Sr. to a three-year term as a road commissioner and Clark to a three-year term as town clerk.

Voters approved a $181,574 municipal budget for the year. The budget increased by $1,558 from last year, mostly because of fuel and wages, Clark said.

Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER – Fire officials soon will have a new roof overhead after residents voted during their annual town meeting to spend surplus money on the project, according to Bridgewater Town Manager Amanda Dow.

Residents voted last week to expend up to $8,500 from the town’s surplus account to replace the Fire Department’s old roof, Dow said Tuesday.

During the annual town meeting, voters also approved the $187,043 municipal budget. The budget increased by about $26,000 from last year. Dow said major factors driving this year’s budget included an increase in the cemetery association account, fuel costs and a cost of living wage increase for municipal employees.

Earlier in the day, residents participated in annual elections, voting in Roderick Collins and Denis Gagne to two three-year terms to the Board of Selectmen.

They approved D. Wayne Bradbury to the one remaining year of a three-year term on the Board of Selectmen. They also approved Nina Bradstreet to a three-year term on the school committee.

Voters approved Dow for one-year terms as town clerk and treasurer.

Washburn

WASHBURN – Town officials and residents whipped through a 16-minute annual town meeting, approving last week a $45,165 increase to the municipal budget, according to Washburn Town Clerk Beverly Turner.

Voters approved a $1,014,525 budget for 2005-2006. The budget stood at $969,360 last year. Turner said Tuesday that the budget increase was mostly because of gas, fuel and electricity increases.

The day before the annual town meeting, residents voted on a slate of municipal seats.

They approved incumbents Fred Thomas and Jeff Wark for two three-year terms to the Town Council.

Voters also approved incumbents Katherine Palmer and Carla Rossignol and write-in candidate Lloyd Maynard Jr. for three three-year terms to the SAD 45 school board. They voted in Andrew Churchill for a one-year term to the school board.
