Calendar changes

As of April 14, the Bangor Daily News Calendar will cease to exist in its present form. The changes are being made to make room for stories, photos and columns about health and family life in Maine.

Bean suppers and other public meals have shifted to the Wednesday Style section. Announcements for Bangor-area benefits, club meetings, 12-step groups and other community events should be sent to The Weekly, Weekly Calendar, P.O. Box 1329, Bangor 04402-1329; or left at front desk of the BDN’s Buck Street entrance.

Announcements of concerts, plays and dances will be given a one-time listing as entertainment briefs in the Friday section. Author talks and book signings will be publicized as one-time briefs in the Monday section. Art galleries seeking to promote shows will be offered one-time briefs in the Tuesday section. Health, family and children-related activities will be promoted in one-time briefs in the Thursday section.

For-profit activities such as classes for dance, yoga and crafts no will longer be carried. The BDN offers small ad and Calendar Plus opportunities. Call 990-8020.

Information for all briefs must be received at least 10 days before publication. They must include: name of event, location, street address, town, contact telephone number, date, time, admission cost and sponsor. Mail items to: Bangor Daily News, P.O. Box 1329, Bangor 04401-1329. Listings also may be submitted by fax at (207) 941-9476 or online at bdncalendar@bangordailynews.net. Listings are not taken over the telephone. For information, contact Style Editor Letitia Baldwin at 990-8270 or Executive Editor Mark Woodward at 990-8239.
