ORONO – Local favorite Tessa McCue will be back, but there is also lots that’s new at the Penobscot Figure Skaters Annual Exhibition.
The event will be held in a new location – on the ice at Alfond Arena at the University of Maine. It will run 5-7 p.m. Sunday, April 3, the first day of daylight savings time.
Spotlights will be incorporated, the musical selections are diverse, and a new set of choreographers and figure skating coaches has staged the group’s opening and closing routines.
A highlight will be the performance by McCue, a Hampden native who trains in Massachusetts and has done well in the competitive ranks.
Taking part also will be two guest skaters from the Skating Club of Boston, Hanako Oji Gutterman and Harrison Choate.
During intermission, the association will sell hot dogs, hot chocolate, coffee, soft drinks and all kinds of homemade desserts.
The Penobscot Figure Skaters is a nonprofit association of local figure skaters ages 6 to 66 who practice their spins, glides, jumps and axels on Sunday nights, November to March, at Sawyer Arena in Bangor.
Once a year, they sponsor an exhibition where the figure skaters have the opportunity to strut their stuff.
Performing in the exhibition will be: Jade Baumrind, Sarah Benner, Carolyn Benner, Hilarie Blunt, Charlotte Firestone, Pat Giorgio, Katie Goldberg, Brook Hammond, Katherine Harris, Elizabeth Houghton, Emma Howard, Dana Libhart, Ariel Murphy, Kelsey Price, Lauren Schmelzer, Amanda Cateina Serrao, Sharon Silberman-Humels, Sarah Storgaard, Gail Sumner, Marisa Tandy, Eliza C. Templet, Lindsay Wells, Casey White, Nancy Whitney, Rachel Witham, Tom Woehr and Bridget Woodward.
Admission is free, but contributions are appreciated.
