AUGUSTA – A daylong program, “U.S. Political Prisoners and Their Families: A Day of Education and Solidarity,” will be held 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Jewett Auditorium, University of Maine at Augusta.

The event will feature Robert Meeropol, younger son of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, author of “An Execution in the Family” and executive director of the Rosenberg Fund for Children, a public foundation that provides for the educational and emotional needs of children of U.S. political prisoners.

Also presenting will be Ray Luc Levasseur of Sanford, recently released from federal prison, and Lynne Williams, National Lawyers Guild’s Northeast regional vice president.

The event, sponsored by Victory Gardens Project, Let Cuba Live and Maine Books to Prisoners, is free to the public. Child care is available, and the facility is accessible to people with disabilities. For more information, call 649-5980 or 443-2899.
