Training for adoptive, foster families slated

BANGOR – Adoptive and Foster Families of Maine Inc. will hold a training conference, “Love Takes You In … Heart, Hope and Hard Work Make You Whole,” at 8:15 a.m. Friday, April 1, and 8:45 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at Bangor Motor Inn, 701 Hogan Road.

Primary presenters are:

. Dr. Steven Gray, certified pediatric neuropsychologist, director of Gray Neuropsychology Associates and assistant professor at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.

. Jodee Kulp, author of “Our FAScinating Journey” and co-author of “Best I Can Be Living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.” She also is editor of the newsletter for Foster and Adoptive Care Association of Minnesota.

. Mattie Satterfield, representing Generations United of Washington, D.C.

. Judge Vendean Vafiades, chief judge of the Maine District Court.

Gov. John Baldacci has been invited and will attend, pending his schedule.

Many workshops have been scheduled as well as a presentation by the Old Town Teen Civil Rights group.
