SAN DIEGO – The San Diego Chargers re-signed exclusive-rights free agent linebacker Stephen Cooper to a one-year contract Friday.

No other terms of the deal were announced.

In 2004, the 6-1, 235-pound Cooper had 33 tackles on defense as a reserve linebacker and added nine stops on special teams. He is entering his third season in the NFL after joining the Chargers as a rookie free agent from Maine in 2003.

Cooper’s signing leaves the Chargers with only three unsigned free agents, tight end Antonio Gates, wide receiver Kassim Osgood and defensive end DeQuincy Scott.
