State high school jazz festival posts winners

NEWPORT – Nokomis Regional High School hosted the 27th annual Mane State Jazz Festival Friday and Saturday, April 1-2. More than 850 students attended with 44 Maine schools taking part.

Friday’s performances featured the smaller jazz combo bands and high school multiple jazz bands. Saturday’s performances focused on the larger ensemble jazz bands.

The top three divisional bands on Saturday competed against each other during Saturday Night Finals. Allison Bankston from Q106.5 was the master of ceremonies for the competition. More than 1,000 people enjoyed the evening of jazz.

Friday’s results:

. Multiple Combos: 1. Mount Desert High School Mantooth Jazz Combo; 2. George Stevens Academy Octessence Jazz Combo: 3. Cheverus High School Junior Jazz Combo.
