BANGOR – Bangor Public Library will provide several events during April vacation.
. Kids for Kids, 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, will afford the opportunity to meet baby goats at the library. Got Goats 4-H members will bring kids and bottles and talk about goats’ lives and habits, care and feeding. The soft coats, sweet bleats, jumps and jives of these new babies are lots of fun. Weather permitting, the event will be held on the Children’s Terrace, or in the Story Room if it should rain.
. Origami, 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, will offer the chance to turn a flat piece of paper into a three-dimensional sculpture. Origami is the ancient art of paper folding from the Far East. Dave Paterson, who has taught art in Dexter for six years, will guide participants’ flips and folds to create intriguing paper crafts.
The workshop is limited to 20 school-age participants. Pre-registration is required. Call 947-8336. Paterson encourages parents to attend so they can assist their children as they practice later on.
. Clay-Animation Workshop, 10 a.m. Thursday, April 21. Peter and Faye McDermott moved into a Harlow Street storefront last year and have been offering clay sculpting and video creation lessons and camps. Children ages 6 to 14 will have the opportunity to create figures, animate their characters, and film and view their production.
Pre-registration is required. Call 947-8336 or stop by the Children’s Desk to sign up.
. Spring Woodlands, 10 a.m. Friday, April 22. There is much thawing, stretching, poking, peeping and more going on in the woods on a mild April day. Frances Graham, educator and naturalist, will offer a close-up look at plants, insects and animals coming alive after their winter rest. Her slides will let participants view the woodlands in the comfort of the Story Room. Enjoy fresh fruit snacks and individual conversation with Graham and participants after the presentation.
. Batter Up!, 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23. Bill Swift, manager of Olympia Sports and former Bangor Blue Ox player, will be on deck in the Story Room to teach some basic pitching and batting techniques. The name of this game is Fun.
The library will be closed Monday, April 18, in observance of Patriot’s Day.
