Dinner auction to help BSO raise funds

ORONO – The Bangor Symphony Orchestra invites the public to the annual “Springing” Dinner Auction at 5 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at Wells Commons, University of Maine, after the BSO’s classical concert.

The Bangor Symphony board of directors is collecting an assortment of items, including dining, outings, pampering, shopping and more from local businesses contributing to the BSO’s annual fund-raiser.

Already up for bid is a 2005 Subaru Outback, courtesy of Stanley Subaru in Ellsworth. Equipped with continuous all-wheel drive, front and side air bags, manual or automatic, anti-theft security system, the Subaru is available for bid by visiting the Web at bangorsymphony.com or stopping at the Bangor Symphony box office, 51A Main St., Bangor. Rules and restrictions apply.

Also up for bid are two pairs of round-trip tickets to the contiguous 48 states and the Caribbean, from American Airlines – restrictions apply. Or relax at the Fairmont Algonquin, a Sugarloaf condo and-or Hawthorn Inn; enjoy a variety of schooner and windjammer trips; pamper yourself with a European facial and therapeutic massage; or dine at the finest restaurants.

Unique items include the opportunity to have conducting lessons with Maestro Xiao-Lu Li, sitting onstage at a BSO concert, conducting the BSO at Kingfield POPS and a walk-on role during the 2005 “Nutcracker” production at Maine Center for the Arts.

The BSO Web site is updated daily as the countdown continues for the chance to win something special and help the Bangor Symphony Orchestra.
