LEWISTON – Stephanie Moriarty scattered seven hits, striking out six, and Brandi Rideout and Kelly McDonough had RBIs to enable the University of Maine-Farmington to gain a split of Thursday’s doubleheader by virtue of a 10-4 softball win over Bates College.
Bates won the opener 10-2.
Carolyn King doubled for Bates in the nightcap.
In the opener, Sarah Klenakis hurled a five-hitter and Bates scored seven unearned runs in the second inning.
Beth Lakin had a double and drove in two runs for Bates and King doubled and drove in a run.
Mary Berry had two hits for UMF and Rideout doubled.

At Standish, Aaron Cieslak’s two-run first-inning double helped the Monks salvage a split of Thursday’s doubleheader.
Andy Exley had a triple, a single and two RBIs for the 8-5 Monks while Charlie Furbush and Brian Schools contributed RBI doubles.
Brian Cutter picked up the win.
Jeremy Henderson hit a two-run homer for 4-7 Castleton State (Vt.).
In the opener, Josh Racicot had a pair of run-scoring singles and Chris Alger had an RBI double to pace the Spartans.
Travis Myers went five innings for the win.
Furbush had a double and two singles for the Monks and Cieslak belted a two-run homer.
