Trade show, community fair set this Saturday in Lincoln

LINCOLN – Auto dealers, tractor dealers, furniture outlets, computer companies, golf courses, restaurants, pool halls, landscapers, woodworkers, banks, marketers, exercise gyms, health services, antique sales, and tons of arts and crafts artisans will be there.

More than 60 of the Lincoln area’s business and economic offerings will be on display Saturday at the Lincoln Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce Trade Show and Community Fair, organizers said Thursday.

There also will be a few things you don’t usually see in Lincoln, such as professional race car drivers and wild animals from around the world.

“The purpose of the event is to allow our area businesses to show off different products and services and for the public to see what our area has to offer,” said Carole Potts, a member of the board of directors of the Lincoln Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce. “It’s also a day of fun and entertainment for families because we do have some other things that families will really enjoy.”

The event will run from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Mattanawcook Academy. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children age 12 and under. The public is invited. Several hundred people are expected to attend.

U.S. armed services recruiters also will be there, as will plenty of food vendors, Potts said. Eric Worster’s E-Dubb stock car racing team also is expected to attend.

The event is the Chamber’s largest annual fund-raiser and is expected to draw several thousand dollars to the organization, Potts said.

The event also dovetails well with a career and job fair the Lincoln Lakes Region Development Corp. will hold from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 27 at the Knights of Columbus hall.

The career fair will allow area employers and employees to meet and network, said Cathy Kecki, the corporation’s executive director of economic development.

“It’s also a chance for students to find good career opportunities to stay in this region,” she said.

Invitations have been sent to about 500 local and regional businesses from Bangor, Katahdin and the Lincoln Lakes region asking them to be there, she said.

Military recruiters and representatives from all the secondary schools of eastern Maine have been invited to attend, Kecki said.

Any business interested in reserving table space can call Paul Ruggiero or Gary Stevens at the Lincoln Training Development Corp. at 794-3283.
