BRUNSWICK – Danielle Chagnon had an RBI single and later stole home with the game-winner as the Bowdoin College Polar Bears defeated the UMaine-Farmington Beavers 4-2 in softball action Friday.
The Polar Bears erased a 2-1 UMF lead with a three-run third inning.
Rachael Gordon knocked in a run with a fielder’s choice, and Megan Rodgers had an RBI single in the first inning for Bowdoin. Laura Perovich doubled and singled, and Brittany Ogden added two singles. Caitlin Polistena earned the win, and Emily Nelson struck out all nine batters she faced to earn the save.
Sara Martin led the Beavers with a double and single, and Meagan Carmen took the loss.

At Brunswick, Ricky Leclerc doubled to drive in three runs and lead the Polar Bears past the White Mules of Waterville.
Mike Buckley and Nick Lawler each singled twice and had one RBI. Jared Lemieux and Chris McCann had two singles apiece for Bowdoin, while Jon Koperniak had an RBI single.
Roddy Ames slammed a two-run homer for the 0-12 White Mules. Nicholas Spillane had a double and a single, and Tyler Hales had two RBIs.
