More than 100 members of the Maine Army National Guard’s 152nd Maintenance Company left Texas this week for deployment in Kuwait and then Iraq.
The 114 members left Fort Bliss in Texas at about noon Wednesday and arrived about 12:15 p.m. EDT Thursday, said Maj. Peter Rogers, Maine National Guard director of public affairs. The 152nd members then will be deployed to Iraq, although it wasn’t clear when that would be, he said.
The maintenance company is headquartered in Augusta, but has members from around the state, with detachments in Bangor and Limestone.
The 152nd Maintenance Company is the sole unit currently deployed, although there are individuals and members of some units that have deployed, including some Mainers who have joined units from other states, Rogers said.
