THOMASTON – A Cushing man was killed in a motorcycle crash Thursday night.

Police said Friday they believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash, which occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. on the River Road near the Thomaston-Cushing line.

Motorcyclist Keith Feyler, 39, failed to negotiate a curve in the road. His 2002 Harley-Davidson left the right side of the road and struck some pine trees, Police Chief Kevin Haj said. Feyler was not wearing a helmet.

Cushing Rescue was the first at the accident. Thomaston police, fire and ambulance departments also responded, as well as Maine State Police Sgt. Gerry Madden.

Trooper Mark Coleman is reconstructing the accident, and the state medical examiner was expected to examine the body, Haj said.
